Exciting updates to the CBH Grass Roots Community Grants

22/1/2025

CBH Group is pleased to announce several updates to the Grass Roots Community Grants program. These changes have been shaped by feedback from growers and community members, reflecting our commitment to evolving alongside the needs of Western Australian grain-growing communities. Here’s what’s new:

Increased funding pool
The total annual funding pool for the Grass Roots Community Grants has increased from $300,000 to $500,000. This significant uplift reflects CBH’s dedication to supporting community-led projects and events that make a meaningful difference in grain-growing regions.

Larger grants for greater impact
We’ve doubled the maximum grant sizes available:

  • Up to $10,000 for events that bring communities together and enrich regional life.
  • Up to $20,000 for small-scale infrastructure projects that improve facilities and services in your area.

These changes aim to empower applicants to undertake more ambitious and impactful projects.

Refined eligibility criteria
To ensure the grants align closely with community and grower priorities, we’ve updated the eligibility criteria. Applicants will now be asked to identify which of the three pillars of the new CBH Community Investment Framework their project aligns with best:

  • Connected & engaged communities
  • Diverse & sustainable industry
  • Resilient people & regions

This alignment helps to ensure that funded projects contribute to the long-term vitality and sustainability of grain-growing communities.

Why these changes matter
These updates stem from ongoing conversations with our members and communities. We’ve listened to your feedback, and we’re acting to enhance the program’s impact. By increasing the total funding pool, raising the maximum grant sizes, and refining the application process, we’re better equipped to support community-led projects that deliver meaningful benefits to the regions we serve.

The Grass Roots Community Grants program plays a vital role in strengthening the regions where we live, work, and play. By funding community-led initiatives we’re investing in the future of Western Australian grain-growing communities.
